Supporting the Communities we Serve
On February 27, 2016, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri helped in making 8-year old Amelia's wish to "take care of the world" come true. Amelia is the daughter of a Kansas City Police Officer, and she is battling brain cancer.
Amelia loves the outdoors, parks and the Earth. During her treatments, she likes to think of her happy place – walking with her Grandma at the local park and picking up trash to take care of the world. Her selfless wish was not surprising to her family who joined with leaders in Kansas City including the Kansas City Police and Fire departments on February 27, along with hundreds of volunteers to help clean up four area parks. Throughout the day, Amelia visited each park, and at her local park, the Mayor presented an honor bench in her name.
Use the hashtag #AmeliasWish each time you take part in making the world a cleaner, safer and better place.
While Amelia's Wish Day has come and gone, we ask that you join us in memorializing Amelia's Wish to "take care of the world" by taking a moment each time you visit your local park to pick up a piece of trash. Recall the selfless wish of this little girl and help in keeping her community spirit alive by using the hashtag #AmeliasWish each time you take part in making the world a cleaner, safer and better place.
